Long Odds: A Guy Ritchie Film Festival

MFA Project

For this project we had to design a film festival around the work of a single director, and a thematic thread shared throughout their body of work. I decided on Guy Ritchie as my director because I like his movies. The thread I chose to use to guide this project is the over-ambition that the characters in Ritchie's films all seem to have. The ambition of the characters inevitably leads them to over-reach, digging themselves into a hole that they then have to find a way out of. They're bold, but in being bold expose their own incompetence. The films are filled with chaos because the events are driven by amateurs failing in ways they didn't see coming.
